Meet FAIR at Big Science Morning
Date and time
Thursday, 4 February 2021 09:00 - 11:00
Remote Handling (RH) at FAIR, Darmstadt, Germany
FAIR (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research) is an international accelerator facility, one of the largest research projects worldwide, currently under construction in Darmstadt, Germany. Building and operating a unique FAIR particle accelerator facility requires the development of cutting-edge technologies, innovative measuring methods and techniques, and customised, state-of-the-art equipment
Remote Handling (RH) will play an important role in the Super-FRS (Super-Fragment Separator) at FAIR. One significant RH project concerns the Super-FRS target area of components maintenance, where human access will be restricted due to high levels of radiation. Remote Handling (RH) systems will be used to conduct remote inspections and maintenance of the Super-FRS components.
