We start the event with a half-hour informal gathering over morning coffee. The first presentation will be on challenges relating to fusion energy and fusion reactors, and this will be followed by two speakers presenting collaboration projects between Big Science facilities, academia and industry.
Fusion for Energy (F4E) and ITER
Stefan Wikman will be joining us at the event in person. He has an extensive background in materials science and fusion, and has worked full-time at Fusion for Energy (F4E) and ITER for the past 16 years. Today, Stefan is Head of Materials & Manufacturing Technologies at F4E, and will be talking about the challenges relating to fusion energy and fusion reactors.
FREIA Laboratory
Maja Olvegård, researcher in physics and astronomy and Director of the FREIA Laboratory, Uppsala University, will be participating via videolink, describing a successful collaboration project with CERN on superconducting magnets.
RISE, Lund University and AQ Elautomatik
Håkan Nilsson, RISE/Big Science Sweden, will also be participating via videolink, explaining how RISE, Lund University and AQ Elautomatik, working in collaboration, won a contract to develop power converters for the ITER experimental fusion reactor.
Registration
Registration is now open for both online participants and those attending in person.
