The development of satellites for functions such as national defence, weather monitoring, everyday communication, and earth observation has grown considerably in recent years. This, in turn, will increase the need for efficient launch services.
By the time of the Rymdforum conference in March, Esrange will have inaugurated its Spaceport, making this an ideal time to consider Sweden's opportunities in its new role as a spaceport. For example, how can we help develop accurate and integrated information regarding climate change, mineral exploration, land use planning, and resource management? What laws and regulations must be considered? How can we be a forerunner in the sustainability work? What are the links between academia, research institutes and industry?
The focus of the conference will be on opportunities, challenges and needs, and these will form a thread running through all presentations and discussions.
