Precision at the core – Big Science Sweden visits Microbas Precision

Big Science Sweden recently visited Microbas Precision, a member company based in Hässleholm that specializes in ultra-precise machining and grinding of granite, glass-ceramics, and optical glass with single micron precision. Originally a granite supplier, Microbas has evolved into a global leader in precision engineering, with roots dating back to the 1950s.

Inspiring company visit

As part of its commitment to fostering collaboration and expanding its network, Big Science Sweden’s visit provided valuable insights into Microbas’ expertise and capabilities.

“I am truly impressed by Microbas and will visit CERN this week, bringing this with me to explore potential opportunities,” says Fredrik Engelmark at Big Science Sweden and Industrial Liaison Officer (ILO) for CERN.

Strong track record of innovation

With a strong track record of innovation, Microbas supplies components to major industry leaders such in semiconductor, display and space exploration, as well as to some of the French research initiatives. The company has also contributed to the Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) project, delivering prototypes of sensor holders in collaboration with partners.

Microbas has experienced steady growth of approximately 25% per year since 2015, now generating around 60 million SEK in revenue with a team of 35 employees.

“Our ambition is to combine world-class precision engineering with a strong company culture. We want to create a community and be the best workplace in Hässleholm supplying precsion engineering globally,” says Magnus Lindvall, CEO of Microbas Precision.
