Sweden, Denmark and Estonia in successful collaboration at IPAC’23

This year’s International Particle Accelerator Conference, IPAC’23 in Venice, attracted over 1600 delegates and 80 industry exhibitors. Sweden, Denmark and Estonia hosted a joint exhibition stand, under the name High-Tech North.

The intensive five-day programme at IPAC’23 comprised in-depth sessions on the latest research in accelerator physics. In addition to the stimulating and informative presentations and panel sessions, a major benefit for the participating industrial companies was their involvement in our stand, where they could present their skills and expertise to visitors and make valuable contacts.

Four of Big Science Sweden’s member companies participated in the stand: Scanditronix Magnet, Scandinova Systems, Teledyne Systems, and RI.Logistica.

Larger area of expertise

For the first time, Sweden, Denmark and Estonia arranged a joint exhibition space, with the title High-Tech North. Fredrik Engelmark, Business Developer at Big Science Sweden, reported a steady stream of visitors to the stand, which proved to be a good point of contact for both companies and research facilities.

“Working across national boundaries and presenting ourselves as High-Tech North was a successful and stimulating experience. As countries we are relatively small, but between us we cover a wider area of expertise.”

Evening social event

During the conference, the High Tech North team hosted an evening social event, which attracted around 50 participants from companies and from research facilities, not least ESS and MAX IV.

IPAC’23 was arranged jointly by the accelerator communities in Europe, the Americas and Asia. The conference location alternates between the continents. This year the conference was in Europe, and next year’s event, IPAC’24, will be held on the American contact, in Nashville, Tennessee.
